what if in a couple episodes the krew is in a bind and the only solution somehow is airbending and korra isn’t there and it’s just bo and mako and asami and somehow asami manages some totally brilliant non-bender solution and saves the day

and then later back at air temple they’re like sitting around drinking tea and asami sips hers and is like OW SHIT and burns her tongue so she like casually creates a tiny stream of air and cools off her tea

and everyone is like !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"ASAMI WTF YOU CAN AIRBEND"

"yeah ive had it since everyone got it"

..

"i never needed it before and i don’t need it now

…but it does come in handy to cool off hot tea”

early 2012 lok fandom was the best because there was no fighting and  literally all everyone talked about was how hot korra is

i love that korra became a baby again not just because like she felt helpless and scared and defenseless and that reflected that but

but like that was the PERFECT mental state for her to be in to learn what she learned

Grown-up korra would have seen those monsters and been like “NOPE I’MA BEND YOUR FACE INTO NEXT WEEK”

But baby Korra was able to be like “no but wait they can be my friends” and she accomplished her goal

Like all that development will carry into her continued adult life but she was NOT vulnerable enough to learn it as an adult

she HAD to become 5 again for that to happen

and i LOVE IT

i just had this thought that maybe Korra’s ability to bend/identity as the avatar coming about so early in her life and the way she is so eager to have every element totally mastered RIGHT STAT NOW is like a direct result of Aang feeling like if he had started learning all the elements sooner he could have prevented the war

More from my little Les Miserables/Legend of Korra series.

Not gonna lie, I legitimately teared up a few times drawing this. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF

The song is “A Little Fall of Rain.” If you aren’t familiar with the musical and decide to take a listen, be warned, your heart will shatter into a million pieces and Victor Hugo himself will rise from his grave to drink your tears. and please for the love of god listen to the 10th anniversary version

The story at this point is that basically Eponine (Korra) has been in love with this guy since the day she met him, but he’s just fallen in love with someone else. She even runs errands a few times to help them be together and it’s just such a long story but ANYWAY at this point she goes back to the barricade disguised as a boy to see him and is shot on the way. She dies in his arms but says she doesn’t feel any pain and she’s actually happier than she’s ever been because he’s there, holding her and comforting her. Marius (Mako) at this point realizes how much he cared for her, whether or not he had romantic feelings for her.

So enjoy… Or weep uncontrollably, it’s the same thing in this fandom these days asdfhsh

casually reblogging my own art because now most of the fandom has seen Les Mis so relevant

NO FEAR, NO REGRET

Creating a Legend

michaeldantedimartino:

2 1/2 years ago, Bryan and I returned to Nickelodeon, delved back into the Avatar universe, and created “Legend of Korra.”  The process of bringing Korra’s story to TV was one of the most challenging and demanding periods of my life, but ultimately a  rewarding one.  I’ve worked (and continue to work) with amazingly talented artists, producers, actors, and every other type of job required to create a show.  We set the bar high, then higher again.  There were many times I thought we weren’t going to make it over that bar.  But perseverance, tenacity, and talent from all involved helped breathe life into Korra.  I was very happy when the show finally premiered and was embraced with the same passion and intensity as Aang’s adventures.  And with only 4 more days until the finale, I feel a mix of pride, joy, and relief.  You all finally get to see what happens with Amon and Korra!  I can stop worrying about scenes being leaked!  (At least until Book 2…)  I think it’s a satisfying and exciting conclusion to book 1, but I guess I’m a little biased.

After co-creating and producing both the original “Avatar” and “Legend of Korra” I’ve definitely learned a lot about crafting a story from the initial concept all the way until the show is complete.  But even so, I still feel like I have a lot to learn and understand about how this mysterious thing called Creativity works.

The internet is a strange place.  Like most I have a love/hate relationship with it.  But places like Tumblr, Flickr, Deviant Art, and the like are an amazing outlet for creativity and imagination.  Everyone has a need to express themselves, and the online universe is helping to feed that desire.  I figured it was finally time to join the party.

I feel truly blessed to be able to express myself through the Avatar universe and have millions of people tune in to watch.  Thank you for being one of those who tuned in and I hope you enjoy the finale!

I leave you with an interview Bryan and I did for the Wall Street Journal:
